“Omo Collection” This work is a collaborative effort between two artists; Giovanna Aryafara, Photographer and Mary Catherine Solberg, Artist Giovanna’s stunning photography documents the living Art of the Suri Tribe located in the Omo Valley of Ethiopia. Her portrayal of their connection to and joy of nature has long fascinated me, so I reached out and inquired whether I might use her portraits as inspiration in my paintings. Although there could be no improvement on her striking and soulful photos, I did want my interpretation to expand upon the fabulous nature art of the Suri Tribe with layers of paint and textural elements. The result is this Collaboration between artists christened the “Omo Collection”.
